Purple Cows...any ideas?

Ok, so I asked little miss Madi what kind of birthday party she wanted since she is turning 3 in just two short weeks. I expected to hear something like Dora, princess, or even a farm party theme like her brother. I guess I underestimated my little girl and her imagination. She told me very matter of factly that she wants a purple cow birthday party. Purple Cow?? Seriously? I am creative but I don't know if I am creative enough to come up w/ a purle cow cake, banner, favors, ect. Yikes!

I tried to reason with her and tell her that there really aren't such things as purple cows and she told me, 'I know mommy, I just like purple and cows together.' Hmm, so this very tired mommy put together a birthday party invite today complete with a purple cow (colored by yours truly!). What do you think?

Anyother ideas for a purple cow party would be very, very appreciated!

Loving the results!

I was playing around with my camera again (suprise, suprise, right?). I took my favorite little subject in front of the window (to catch some exsisting light) and had him model a new hat I got at the Pout boutique the other day. Also, he posed with a colorful little monkey to help me work on my colors. I edited the photos tonight on my super slow computer (I need a new so bad!) and I am really happy with the results. They are bright, colorful, and fun. I just wish that we could get outside and practice in the outdoors...one of these days this weather has to end right?

Here are a few of the pics I took today, please feel free to leave comments, I just want to get better!

This first one is my favorite, I like the colors, his face, the drool, so cute. I will definetly be making copies of this one!

Tanner was not too happy to see his mommy with her camera trying to catch a good shot of the three of them. Tyson almost looks scared or on the verge of tears.

What a day!

I took Madi and Ty to the doc today for well child visits and expected to hear that both were a-ok (except for a little cold that Ty is getting over). Well, when we got there I had to wake both kids up from a nap in the car. As usual Ty was the go with the flow little guy and his big sister Madi was extremely grumpy. She didn't want to go in and when I finally convinced her that she wasn't getting any shots she decided that coming with me and Ty was better than staying the freezing cold car.

Somehow I knew that this doctor visit wasn't going to go well. When the nurse called us back (the same friendly nurse we've always had) Madi didn't want to go. She relented when I walked away and stood my ground on not giving into her little fit.

This is where the fun started. She flat out refused to let the nurse measure her, no amount of coaxing (even from strangers waiting their turn behind us) was going to make my stubborn little chica do what she DID NOT WANT TO DO! The whole visit went like this (and normally she is a kid that likes doctors, she asked if we could go back to the dentist the day after we went for the first time!). Our doctor is fantastic at what he does and even he had a tough time w/ Madi today (he has 8, yes 8 girls at home, so he has seen it all!) We ended up having to hold her down (poor girl) and he discovered a pair of bright red ears. She has a double ear infection, a nasty one!

No wonder she has been so so so crabby and has had so many meltdowns! I don't want to say that I was glad to hear that she has this but I was very happy to hear that her meltdowns were a result of all the pain the poor thing is in!
So, my little gal is on medicine (yummy stuff in her words) and we are hoping that she gets better soon!

In other news, I stopped by the Pout baby boutique in Fargo this afternoon and can I just say that I love it! I wish that I had more money to spend in there, they had a lot of cute stuff! I did buy a hat and some leg warmers and a colorful stuffed monkey that will be making an appearance in my photos on here in the coming weeks. You should stop there if you are in Fargo. They are very nice and personable and have a fantastic kids play area! Madi gives it 2 thumbs up. Click here to check out their blog.

Here are some pics of Ty in his new cow crawler covers...can't wait to get some better shots in the light of day!

Wow.

I am so so so excited! I just received an email from a representative at Shutterfly about the photo book I made last year called 'Let Them Be Little'. They asked if they could use my book and the images inside it for advertising purposes on their website. If my book is chosen, they will feature me on their site with the book. I would also get compensation and Shutterfly rewards to purchase more books (or whatever I wanted on their site, I just love their books). This is the first time that my photography has been recognized professionally, I have no words to describe what an honor this is! Here is a link to my book if you want to check it out.

WOW.

Rylynn, 14 months

Little miss Rylynn was a smiley, go with the flow type of gal. I was so excited to see how happy she was when I got there and started taking her pictures! I couldn't catch enough fun moments and faces! She was also a very busy one year old and didn't slow down the entire time I was there. Here is a sneak peek at some that caught my eye.

Tyson, Tallyn, & Troy

I got a chance to visit Tyson, Tallyn & Troy this week to take their pictures and it was a lot of fun! They gave me a run for my money, with an active 3 year old and a pair of on the go 15 month old twins, but I think we got some cute shots. Their mom had some adoarable outfits and hats ready for the trio to model. Thanks for the good time 'N' family! Here are a few (of the many) pics I took...

happy birthday daddy!

It's Trav's 29th Birthday tomorrow and I the kids and I made this slideshow for him. It wasn't easy getting a good pic this time, they are all sick of mommy's new camera! But I think the slideshow turned out well, we sang happy birthday to him in the background and left him a couple of messages. So, enjoy and Happy 'early' Birthday honey!

my boys

I am in such awe of my little boys and the bond that they share as brothers, already. Tanner is a fantastic big brother, he helps me out a lot, even when I don't ask him to. The other day, Ty was crying when I wasn't in the room. Tanner never missed a beat as he picked his pacifier up off the floor, gave it a quick rinse in the sink, and popped it into Ty's mouth. I walked into the room just as he was finishing and I saw him smile down at Ty and in turn saw Ty's little eyes look up to him with such gratitude. It was the sweetest moment, and makes me appreciate being a momma. These are the moments I live for. So, here they are, my two little men giving eachother kisses.

lil' farm girl

This is non-photography related post, I couldn't resist these cute shots! Madi and I got a chance to be in the cow/calf shed today, just her and I. She was so totally in her element and I had so much fun watching her use her high pitched 'mommy' voice on the calves she was feeding. She was telling them not to fight over their food and being such a good little mommy by feeding them little scoops of corn (w/ other things, hmm, I don't know what but I am sure that my little farm girl would be able to tell you!). She told me I could help but in the next breath told me very matter of factly not to feed certain pens with bigger cows. "They don't get this kind of food, daddy gives them corn pellets." Can I just say wow, my little farm girl! She is only 2 (for another month). Travis and I always seem to say this, neither of us can believe how smart and articulate she is!
Here are some pics of my sweet little farm girl feeding her calvies.

photo shoot

Yesterday, I took Ty in front of the window to get some lighting shots, I wanted to capture those blue eyes the way that the pro's do. I think I came close, but I need to work on the redness. Ty is not normally this red! I also posted a collage to include my favorites. If you would like me to do this for your baby or child's photo shoot, let me know! I have a lot of other ideas as well!

once again with natural light

I don't have too much to say today, just wanted to post some pictures I took yesterday after I tweaked the white balance and color on my camera. I think that the images are better then they were before...however, I still have a long way to go!
