Nikon D90

Finally! I ordered my new camera! I ended up ordering online from B&H photo. I was going to order on Amazon but the camera as well as one of the lenses I wanted was out of stock! Since I am going nuts and am seriously itching to get this camera, I ordered it. I was going to wait a little longer to see if it went down in price but I felt like I had waited long enough and researched enough (for at least 3 months!) that I knew what I wanted. I went with the 50mm 1.4 lens, which is rated really well and great for portraits (which I love to take!) and low light situations.

The last lens I ordered was the Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR AF-S DX I don't know what all of the lingo after that means (I need to take a few classes on DSLR's!) but I know that this is another good lens for the price. I researched a lot on (a great source for aspiring camera enthusiasts like me).

I am really excited to try all this new equipment out and feel so blessed that I was able to purchase it and start making my dream (of becoming a photographer) reality.

Jaylyn 9 months

I went to a friends house to take pictures of her little sweetie, Jaylyn. This is the first time that I have taken pictures of someone other than family! Little Jaylyn was such a little honey and gave me a few smiles. She had some adorable outfits too! I think that some of my favorites were the ones with pearl necklace and big pink bow. Thanks for such a fun first photo session!

One more thing from Thumper Pond...

I took this video of Madi going down the little waterslide, and forgot to post it in the last post. She loved this slide and went on it over and over! I wish I would have taken some of Tanner going down the big slide but I didn't want to wreck my camera b/c the water splashed so bad coming down that one!

Thumper Pond

So we decided to take a short trip this winter, one that wasn't too far away so we could get there and back quickly. I really want to take family vacations but with three kids under 5 it really isn't a good idea to do! We ended up deciding on Thumper Pond, in Ottertail, MN. It was a fantastic deal and we were able to swim in the fun water park for a long time! The night went pretty well, although I am still waiting for Ty to sleep better. He was up on and off pretty much all night! Between him and Tanner and Madi fighting over blankies, no one got much sleep! Hopefully the next time that we go away it will be a little bit easier. This time the older two had a great time and went down some of the waterslides and swam a long time (much better than when we took the two of them last year!). Here are a few of my favorite pics from our 'mini' vacation...well, I'll call it a trip since it really didn't feel like a 'vacation'!

My three sweeties all dressed up and ready to swim!

Tyson's very first time in a pool. I don't think he minded it, but it wasn't his favorite thing!

This is one of my favorite action shots, there was even water on the lens from all the splashing!

Ty all wrapped up and chewing on his toes after a fun day in the pool.

Is January over with yet??

These days are getting long! I know that I have spring fever and I am sure that the kids do too! We have been spending our days playing games, play-doh, doing art projects and running up and down the halls! Here are a few pics that caught my eye from the past couple of days. I think that I could take pics of the little guy all day...he is a little ham and his bright blue eyes are gorgeous!

the super yummy- ty's favorite toy!

Check out the blue eyes and the spit (Ty spits up a lot!)

Trying to get a good shot of all three is tough, but I like this one! It shows their indivduality!

Goin' stir crazy!

I snuck outside with the kids today while the little guy was asleep. I was thinkin that today would be a great day to get out since it was 'supposed' to be 30* outside. Hmm, are the weather guys ever right? I am not sure what the actual temp was but it was a lot colder than I was expecting! We are going a little nuts being cooped up in the house all day...and spring seems like such a long ways off! I think that we managed to stay outside a total of 10 minutes!

Gettin' creative with collage effects

I have been working on combining some of my pictures to tell stories and also to reduce the amount of prints that I make. I take so many different shots of the kids and there are always more than one that I like so it is very hard to choose which ones to order. I almost always order more than I should! So, my idea has been to make them into a storyboard of sorts and showcase some of my favorites. Here are a few that I have been working on lately...

Another cold day in the ARCTIC!

I am so so sick of this cold weather! A big part of me wants to pack up and move south..but then I look at pictures like these and I realize that this is only temporary...if I can last through these horribly cold months of winter, Minnesota has so much to offer! I love this area in the spring, summer, and fall, the beauty can't be beat!

I took these pictures before the cold weather had truly set in. I remember thinking that it was chilly that day but in all honesty if we had a day like that today it would be a HUGE heatwave!
